They have been in business since 2002, providing a range of bariatric surgeries such as gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, and revision surgeries and also offering medical weight loss programs and continued lifestyle support. As a multi-disciplinary clinic, the team consists of experienced and skilled bariatric surgeons, psychologists, dietitians, nurse practitioners, and case managers who will assist patients through every step of their weight loss journey by developing individualized treatment plans, providing comprehensive education, and offering long-term follow-up care in order to achieve sustainable weight loss and improved overall health.
Medical Director
Dr. Stanley Hoehn is the founder of KC Bariatric and serves as the Medical Director of AdventHealth Shawnee Mission’s Weight Loss Surgery Program. With over 20 years of experience as a board-certified bariatric surgeon, he has completed thousands of bariatric procedures. Dr. Hoehn has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Union College and a Medical Doctorate from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Kansas and has been named a Center of Excellence (COE) Surgeon since 2006.
GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs
In addition to surgical obesity treatments, KC Bariatric provides medical weight management solutions that can involve certain GLP-1 receptor agonist medications (for example: semaglutide-based medications) when clinically appropriate. GLP-1 receptor agonists assist patients with weight loss through a reduction in appetite, a decrease in the speed of gastric emptying, and better control of blood sugar, allowing individuals to be able to lose considerable amounts of weight without the need for surgery. KC Bariatric creates an individualized treatment plan for each patient, to help them achieve their goal of losing weight and maintaining it. This can consist of a combination of the following: medication therapy; nutrition counseling; behavioral support; exercise guidance; and routine follow-ups.
