Medical Director
Dr. Michael H. Retief is the owner and medical director of Retief Skin Center. He is a board-certified dermatologist and has years of experience using both medical and cosmetic dermatology to improve the skins of patients in Nashville. He is recognized as an expert in advanced skin treatments, aesthetic procedures, and patient-centered services that have made Retief Skin Center one of the top dermatology clinics in Nashville.
GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs
At the Retief Skin Center, our medically supervised weight loss programs utilize GLP-1 medications – specifically tirzepatide and/or semaglutide – to assist patients in achieving weight loss that is both safe, effective and sustainable over time. The reason these medications are effective is because they mimic hormones that regulate appetite and blood sugar levels.
The patient’s experience begins with a consultation to determine whether they qualify for the weight loss program and, if they do qualify, to create a personalized treatment plan that works best for them. The first GLP-1 medication that the provider may prescribe is semaglutide; the medication is administered by injection once a week. For the first week or two of treatment, the provider will monitor how the patient responds to semaglutide, then slowly increase the dosage until the provider finds a maintenance dose.
Weight Loss Program Pricing
All the weight-loss programs at the Retief Skin Center have predetermined starting costs. Depending on the required dosage and treatment plant, the monthly cost for a patient prescribed semaglutide will average approximately $450/month. The monthly cost for a tirzepatide patient will generally average around $550/month. The weight-loss clinic offers promotional package pricing to patients for their programs. For example, a five-month semaglutide program priced at approximately $1,750.
