Overview
New York Bariatric Group (NYBG) is a specialized provider of weight loss and bariatric care services to patients across the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The clinic’s goal is to assist individuals in achieving sustainable weight management by offering personalized treatment plans; bariatric surgeries; non-surgical weight loss methods; nutrition guidance; and psychological support. NYBG employs a holistic approach, bringing together medical expertise, advanced treatment options, and continuous patient care.
The New York Bariatric Group has helped over 45,000 people since opening its doors in 2000, and currently operates 30 clinic locations across the region. The NYBG has developed a range of treatment options for patients with obesity based on their own individual health goals (surgical procedures, medications, gastric balloon procedures, nutritional counseling, dietetic support, lifestyle modification groups for example).
Medical Director
Dr. Shawn M. Garber is a Board Certified Surgeon in the areas of Bariatric / Metabolic Surgery and possède a significant level of experience with minimally invasive techniques to perform weight loss surgery such as gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. He is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (FACS) as well as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS).
GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs
New York Bariatric Group provides medically supervised weight loss programs that may incorporate elements like weight loss medications or injections based on an individualized treatment plan with the goal of achieving success with weight loss. New York Bariatric Group has a medically supervised weight loss plan that focuses on defining an individual program based on scientific-based principles for general obesity management, including options for medications, nutritional support, and professional monitoring.
Patients will be assessed individually, and depending on their eligibility and medical history, will be able to select from options such as GLP-1 therapies, gastric balloon procedures, and surgical options. Each patient will be supported during their weight loss journey by healthcare professionals, including a registered dietitian and behavioral health specialist.
Weight Loss Program Pricing
New York Bariatric Group does not indicate on their website the cost schedule for their medical weight loss and GLP-1 programs. There are several factors involved in determining the cost of medical weight loss, such as which program the patient chooses, insurance coverage, consultations, medication, and other potential additional services. Therefore patients must set up an appointment with a representative to receive an estimate of their individual cost and where to find it on the website.
Patient Reviews
Overall, patients have provided feedback that they were pleased with their experiences with New York Bariatric Group. The Google and Yelp review for various NYBG offices lists most of their ratings as approximately 4.8 stars, and patients noted that staff members were very supportive and provided excellent patient medical care, as well as many very positive comments related to their personal weight loss success at NYBG.
