Medical Director

Dr. Mustafa Ahmed, MD, FACS, is the surgeon in charge of Southern Nevada Bariatrics. Dr. Ahmed has been a board-certified surgeon for over 20 years, specializing in bariatric surgery. He has extensive training in all three specialties—bariatric surgery, cosmetic surgery, and internal medicine—and has completed his surgical residency at The Ohio State University. Following residency, he completed a surgical critical care fellowship and a bariatric surgery fellowship. His philosophy is to treat the whole person (body, mind) with respect to nutrition, mental well-being, and strategies for maintaining weight loss over time.

GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs

Southern Nevada Bariatrics provides a medically supervised weight-loss program with possible prescriptions of medications such as Semaglutide and a nutritional counseling/lifestyle coaching component. Patients come to the clinic for medically supervised weight loss who may not qualify for necessary surgical intervention or prefer to pursue a non-surgical approach. Semaglutide is an injectable medication administered once weekly that will help control appetite, decrease cravings, and provide a consistent weight loss of those patients on the medication, and is prescribed as part of a custom treatment plan, which considers the patient’s particular medical profile, and is supervised/monitored for both the safety and effectiveness of treatment.
