Overview
HerMD is a facility specifically for women, run by a physician and offering up-to-date, patient-centered care in many fields related to women’s health including gynecology, menopause, sexual health, hormone therapy, aesthetics, and medical weight loss. Originally established in 2015, HerMD was developed to fill the gaps that many women find when utilizing traditional healthcare services by offering longer appointment times, individualised treatment plans, and compassionate care. In 2025, HerMD merged with Joi, extending its ability to provide broad virtual healthcare services to all patients across the US while maintaining a strong focus on providing all-encompassing healthcare solutions for women. HerMD focuses on developing an individualised care plan for every patient through a thorough examination and science-based solutions to reach a woman’s desired state of health and wellbeing.
Medical Director
Dr. Somi Javaid is a physician specialist in obstetrics/gynecology who founded HerMD as a result of her experience observing that many women were not receiving appropriate care for their health and wellbeing. With over 20 years of experience caring for women, Dr Javaid is an expert in menopause, sexual health, gynecology, and hormone optimization. She has become a leading voice for women’s health improvement through education, innovation, and evidence-based medicine on a national level.
GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs
HerMD has created a complete medically managed plan for individuals trying to lose weight that will identify the reasons behind their weight gain vs. treating them for their weight issues. Patients are given an extensive metabolic and hormone evaluation through the clinic’s medically managed weight loss panel that includes multiple tests such as CBC, CMP, Lipid panel, HgA1C testing, Insulin levels, and thyroid function tests. Patients are provided with a weight management program from nutrition counseling, life-style changes, and continuous support from the provider, and prescription medications when indicated. Following a complete evaluation, providers from HerMD may prescribe GLP-1 receptor agonists and/or FDA-approved medications for weight loss depending on the patient’s medical history and health goals, and the provider’s determination that these medications are clinically appropriate.
Weight Loss Program Pricing
HerMD does not publish set pricing on its website for either its medically managed weight loss program or GLP-1 program due to the customized nature and lack of standardization in each patient’s individual weight loss treatment plan and including laboratory testing and medication prescribed. As a result, patients interested in learning more about HerMD’s medically managed weight loss program, or the potential costs, are encouraged to contact the clinic to schedule a consultation for an individualized recommendation and a price estimate.
Patient Reviews
HerMD has many positive Google and Yelp reviews; with patients regularly sharing positive experiences about the compassionate nature of the providers, extended appointment times, and individualized care being offered. Reviewers also state that each provider takes the time to get a full understanding of a patient’s concern and provides the patient with complete information regarding treatment options in addition to creating an individualized plan for each patient versus rushing through an appointment.
