Medical Director

Heartland is led by Dr. Ryan LeGrand, M.D., who is a board-certified surgeon specializing in weight loss surgery. Dr. LeGrand began his medical training at the University of Missouri – Columbia, graduating from medical school in 2006. He completed his general surgery residency training at the University of Louisville in 2011, and then completed a fellowship in bariatric and minimally invasive surgery at SSM DePaul Health Center in St. Louis in 2012. After serving as the Medical Director for Weight Loss Solutions at Saint Francis Medical Center from 2012 to 2020, Dr. LeGrand launched Heartland Weight Loss Clinic. Dr. LeGrand sees all of his patients through the entire process, from their first visit to their surgical procedure and through their follow-up visits.

GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs

Heartland Weight Loss Clinic provides patients with a variety of options for weight-management programs, including surgeries and non-surgical methods. GLP-1 injections (like Semaglutide) are one non-surgical method to control appetite and lose weight. Other options include Phentermine, which decreases appetite; hCG (which uses low-calorie diets coupled with metabolic resetting methods); and therapeutic diet/exercise plans based on a patient’s genetics (using DNA). ​​

If a patient needs to have surgery for weight loss, Dr. LeGrand performs many different types of procedures, including the gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, and loop duodenal switch (SADI-S). Each procedure option will be thoroughly described to the patient, along with recommendations based on their medical history and weight management goals. Enterra Therapy for gastroparesis is an additional form of treatment offered to assist with severe weight-related issues.

Weight Loss Program Pricing

Heartland provides multiple options for pricing based on the type of program selected, including:

• Month-to-month GLP-1 weight-loss injection program for $59 a month, plus $55 for the initial visit
• Surgical weight loss procedure options vary by type of procedure and insurance coverage; In addition to accepting various insurances
• DNA-based weight-loss nutrition and health coaching – To be discussed.
  

Office visits, labs, and miscellaneous expenses incurred will be added to the final costs for any of the options above.
