Overview
The Weigh Station is a physician supervised weight loss clinic located in Salem, Virginia that provides comprehensive medically monitored programs for an individual to achieve long-term success. The Weigh Station provides personalized care through the combination of medical expertise, nutritional guidance, lifestyle coaching, and advanced tools (body scans and lab tests). All individuals receiving care from the Weigh Station undergo a comprehensive evaluation that includes a set of diagnostic tests, physical examination, and review of the individual’s medical history in order to determine the most appropriate individualized plan. The Weigh Station focuses on long-term sustainable weight loss by helping individuals develop good habits rather than providing a temporary solution for weight loss.
Medical Director
The Weigh Station is under the direction of Dr. Justin Lindsey, DO an internal medicine physician who earned his medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at LewisGale Medical Center. Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Lindsey served in the Army. As the founder and supervising physician of the Weigh Station, Dr. Lindsey supervises all care (physical examination) and creates individualized weight loss programs for every person seeking care at The Weigh Station.
GLP-1 and Medical Weight Loss Programs
The Weigh Station offers medically-supervised programs for weight loss for qualified individuals who may benefit from GLP-1 weight-loss injections. This medication helps to decrease hunger and mimic natural human hormones so patients feel full longer, hence assisting them to decrease calorie intake through decreased appetite. The programs include additional support, including personalized meal plans, monitoring of lab results as well as monitoring of body composition, and continued support by providers. The clinic also has a variety of structured traditional programs that focus on plants, and they also offer food sensitivity testing to further personalize the treatment patients receive.
Weight Loss Program Pricing
The Weigh Station does not publish fixed prices for their programs but instead provides transparency for patients by providing a list of costs and not billing any insurance for patients. All costs associated with the program are shared and discussed with patients before their initial appointment including: medication costs, lab testing costs, program costs, and supplements that may be recommended, prior to enrolling in one of their programs. The patient pays an initial one-time enrollment fee at the first appointment and will continue to pay for each service selected on an individualized basis.
Patient Reviews
The Weigh Station has received a plethora of positive feedback on both Google and Yelp from patients who have had notable experiences with both weight loss and health improvements. Many patients have descriptions of dramatic changes, like their weight loss is over 100 lbs, and being able to reduce or stop taking medications altogether. Many of the reviews on both sites mention that the staff were always supportive, providing individualized guidance, and the program was laid out in a way that emphasizes long-term lifestyle change.
