John A Evans, MD

in the year 2017, Dr. John Evans became a member of the Ochsner Healthcare System. Before joining the Ochsner team, he spent ten years as a contractor in North Carolina. Dr. Evans has specialized in endoscopic ultrasonography, therapeutic biliary endoscopy, and general endoscopy during the course of his career.

Kevin P Cowley, MD

New Orleans native Dr. Kevin Cowley grew up in the city’s suburbs. At the LSU Health Sciences Center – Shreveport, he earned both his undergraduate degree and his medical degree. The University of Alabama in Birmingham was where he did his internship and residency in internal medicine. At Ochsner Medical Center, Dr. Cowley completed his residency in gastrointestinal. As a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Cowley treats a wide range of conditions.

Arnab Ray, MD

In April 2012, Dr. Arnab Ray joined the Ochsner team. Internal medicine and gastroenterology are Dr. Ray’s areas of expertise. General gastroenterology is what he specializes in after completing his Ochsner fellowship in the field. Clostridium difficile infections and ulcerative colitis are now being studied by Dr. Ray. Dr. Ray is the director of Ochsner’s GI fellowship programme and the division head of general gastroenterology at Ochsner.

James W. Smith, MD

Dr. James Smith obtained his medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and his residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. After his gastrointestinal residency at Ochsner Foundation Hospital, he did a research fellowship at UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Smith joined Ochsner in 1986. It was via this relationship that Ochsner became a participant in many randomized control studies for the treatment of bleeding ulcers.
