Dr. Vafa Shayani is a general surgeon with more than 33 years of experience in the medical field. He did his undergraduate education at the University of California in Los Angeles and completed his medical education at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Shayani did an additional year of concentrated training in advanced laparoscopy at Loyola University Medical Centre. He has also served as an Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of the Minimally Invasive Surgery Program at Loyola University.

Dr. Shayani has been practicing as a general and bariatric surgeon in Chicago since 2007 and is listed in the Top Doctors 2021 of medical publishing organization Castle Connolly.
