Bariatric Procedures Available at Bariatric Institute of Greater Chicago

  • Gastric Sleeve
  • LAP-Band
  • Weight-loss Balloons

Gastric Sleeve

Gastric Sleeve is a surgical bariatric procedure in which almost 80% of the stomach is removed and it is the most commonly used bariatric procedure around the world. As the new stomach is much smaller than its original size, the patient feels fuller quick and thus the food intake gets very less. The surgeon at the Bariatric Institute of Greater Chicago aims at offering the best outcomes and ensuring that the reduction in appetite is seen in patients after this surgery. Performed with a laparoscope this minimally massive procedure is carried out by experts under great care and attention.

LAP-Band

LAP-Band technique is a minimally invasive bariatric procedure in which a silicon ring is surgically placed around the stomach. The ring divides the stomach into two parts; a smaller upper portion and a larger lower portion. Though there are no permanent changes to the digestive tract with the LAP-Band procedure, it helps the patients to restrict their food intake. Patients feel full for longer after eating. Bariatric Institute of Greater Chicago is fully equipped with modern equipment which makes the surgery easier. Moreover, the team here has a great record of performing several successful LAP-Band surgeries and helping individuals with weight loss.

Weight-Loss Balloons

Another effective way to lose weight, Weight-Loss Balloons surgery at Bariatric Institute of Greater Chicago is recommended by experts. Weight-loss balloons or intragastric balloon placement is a non-surgical weight loss technique in which one or multiple balloons are inserted in the stomach that aids in weight loss due to space occupation. Dr. Shayani offers both types of balloons i.e. Orbera and Obalon balloons which are temporary and should be removed after six months. Orbera and Obalon balloons are designed for people with a BMI between 30 and 40.
